What it has going for it

  • The dial is the whole point — a five-spoke alloy rim with a drilled brake disc and a red caliper behind it. Nothing else at this price looks like it.
  • All-black case and bracelet, so the one hit of red is the only thing doing the talking.
  • 43 mm across and 11 mm thick — this is the chunky, fills-the-wrist look, not a dress watch.
  • Quartz movement: no winding, and years between battery changes.
  • 288 of the 395 ratings are 4 or 5 stars, and buyers score it highest on exactly what you would buy it for — look and feel, 4.1.

What to keep in mind

  • Flipkart's own description says it is fine for "swimming and snorkeling". It is rated 30 m, which in practice means rain and hand-washing. Do not swim in it.
  • The case is alloy — zinc alloy on the brand's own spec card — with a black coating. Expect coating wear at the edges over time, not steel-watch durability.
  • Warranty is 6 months, not the usual year, and the manufacturer, packer and importer are all listed simply as "RUSTET WATCH". Country of origin is China.
  • 123 g on a 43 mm case is heavy. If you normally wear a slim watch this will feel like a different category.
  • The bracelet is 220 mm long and 20 mm wide, so most wrists will need a couple of links taken out — a local watch shop does it in minutes.
