Winmail Opener

The emails and attachments you open never leave your phone. The app does its work on your own device.
This policy covers the mobile app Winmail Opener, published by Akshay CP on Google Play. The app opens winmail.dat and Outlook .msg files so you can read the email and save the attachments inside.
The emails and attachments you open stay on your device. The app does the work locally, using your phone's own processor and storage. Nothing you create or open is uploaded to me or to anyone else, and I have no way to see it.
Anything the app saves is written where you ask it to be written, and any list of recent items exists only on your device. Uninstalling the app removes it.
When you tap share, the app hands the file it has made to Android's own share sheet and you choose which app receives it. It goes straight from your device to whichever app you pick, and is subject to that app's privacy policy from then on. Nothing is shared unless you tap share and choose a destination.
The winmail.dat and .msg files you open are read entirely on your phone. They are never uploaded, and never sent to me or to anyone else. Attachments are saved only when you tap Save, into Downloads on your phone, and leave it only when you share them yourself.
So you can open a file again later, the app keeps a copy of the last 10 files you opened in its own private storage. Swipe one away on the home screen to delete it, or uninstall the app to delete them all.
Some emails show pictures that live on the sender's website rather than inside the email. Like any mail app, the message view loads those pictures from that website when you open the email, which tells that website your IP address and that the email was opened. Links in an email open in your browser only when you tap them.
The free version of the app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To serve them, AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier — the Advertising ID — along with general information about your device such as its model, operating system version, language, rough location derived from your IP address, and how you interact with ads.
That information is handled by Google under its own privacy policy, which you can read at policies.google.com/privacy.
On Android, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time in your device settings under Google › Ads.
Making the purchase described below stops ads being shown and stops the advertising identifier being used for advertising in this app.
The app offers a one-time purchase that unlocks its paid features and removes ads. Payments are processed by the store you installed the app from — Google Play Billing. I never see or store your card details. The app only records, on your own device, whether the purchase was made.
I do not run a server for this app. There are no accounts, no logins, and no analytics of my own. I do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos or documents. The only data leaving your device is what Google AdMob collects to show ads, as described above.
This app is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please get in touch and I will look into it.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
