The photos you take stay on your phone. Nothing you shoot is uploaded anywhere. The app does reach the internet, but only to fetch the single advert above the shutter and to check with Google Play whether you have paid to remove it.
This policy covers the mobile app WaterLevel Camera, published by Akshay CP on Google Play. The app puts a spirit level over your camera so you can shoot photos exactly square to what you are photographing - straight down for flat lays, or straight on for a wall.
The photos you take stay on your device. The app does the work locally, using your phone's own processor and storage. Nothing you create or open is uploaded to me or to anyone else, and I have no way to see it.
Anything the app saves is written where you ask it to be written, and any list of recent items exists only on your device. Uninstalling the app removes it.
The app uses your camera as the viewfinder, and takes a photo when you press the shutter or when the auto-shutter fires because the phone is level. The picture is saved to your device's own photo gallery, in an album called WaterLevel Camera, exactly like a photo from any other camera app. It is never uploaded, and the app does not read or recognise anything in the picture - it only measures the angle of the phone itself.
The app reads your phone’s accelerometer, which measures the pull of gravity and therefore tells the app how the phone is tilted. That reading is what draws the bubble on screen and decides whether the shot is square. It is used in the moment and never stored or sent anywhere. Nothing about a motion sensor identifies you.
The free version of the app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To serve them, AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier — the Advertising ID — along with general information about your device such as its model, operating system version, language, rough location derived from your IP address, and how you interact with ads.
That information is handled by Google under its own privacy policy, which you can read at policies.google.com/privacy.
On Android, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time in your device settings under Google › Ads.
Making the purchase described below stops ads being shown and stops the advertising identifier being used for advertising in this app.
The app offers a one-time purchase that unlocks its paid features and removes ads. Payments are processed by the store you installed the app from — Google Play Billing. I never see or store your card details. The app only records, on your own device, whether the purchase was made.
I do not run a server for this app. There are no accounts, no logins, and no analytics of my own. I do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos or documents. The only data leaving your device is what Google AdMob collects to show ads, as described above.
This app is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please get in touch and I will look into it.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
